About
Purpose
One of the fundamentals I believe is that first aid is the foundation for any medical training. Whether one person goes onto be a paramedic, nurse or doctor there needs to be a foundational knowledge which starts with your ABC’s, a great history and standard knowledge of CPR, control of bleeding and splinting.
Another fundamental is to encourage first aiders to trust their abilities in decision making, to make a decision and go with it!
I am grateful for the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of my fellow Albertans and encourage them to step out and help their fellow neighbour!
Our Story
Heart And Life Training came into existence when a fellow emergency services worker asked me if I would teach for some of his coworkers. This started back in 2010 and it has been an adventure to say the least. I started with a DVD and an instructor book and had to borrow everything else. One of the first investments I made was with quality mannequins. I realized from the previous 10 years of teaching for various organizations that there wasn’t much out there for mannequins. I did some research and found that there was a new company on the market Prestan. I found some for sale locally and with in the year I purchased a dozen adults as well as a dozen infant mannequins. Over the years I have purchased other equipment so I can present first aid wherever there is a need (laptop, projector, and other first aid props).

Over the years I have also sold first aid kits, as well as other first aid training aids as well as for EMS and have sold AED’s (automatic external defibrillators), AED pads and associated medical supplies.
If you are needing any medical supplies that you don't see in our shop, please contact us and we will source them for you to the best of our abilities!

Hi, I'm Josh
I'm so glad you're here. Here's a little bit about me, and what I do.

I've been married for 24 years to my beautiful wife Jody, and have a family of 7 kids, and 2 grand kids.
I have lived in the Peace Country for 25 plus years and I enjoy kayaking, spending time in the outdoors and visiting family & friends.
My first aid instructor training started in 1999 when I was working for Fairview & District EMS. I taught for them till 2005 and then for NAIT from 2007-2009. At the same time, I was gaining professional first aid experience working as an EMT from 1997-2023.
I enjoy meeting the students and am always looking forward to the conversations and discussions about first aid.
